Google Business Profile Manager - New Profile Creation and Setup
As your Google Business Profile Manager, the first thing we have to do is claim your business and get it verified. When claiming a business, Google will mail you a confirmation code to the business address. This can take up to 5 business days or more. Sometimes Google may choose to email or call the business for verification as well.
Business listings will not show in Google Search or Google Maps until it is verified.
When claiming a business (before verification) we must input information about the business such as name, address, postal code, type of business, contact details, etc. This base information is what helps your customers find you easy within the search engine.
Now that your business is verified, we can begin adding more content and features that will help drive traffic to your business.
It is suggested that a business listing should be optimized before it is published to Google Search and Google Maps. Before we publish business listings we complete the profile creation with the provided information. Within Google Business Profile listings we can furthermore add details such as the company website, images, business hours, special business hours such as holidays, multiple business locations, post, short videos and offers.
A business profile can still be created even if the businesses location isn’t open for business yet. There is a feature that allows us to set the day that the business opened or will open. This feature is great because it allows searchers in new service areas to see that your business is opening soon. You can enter a date up to one year in the future, but it won’t show on Google until 90 days before the date.
Citations are a fundamental part of your businesses online foundation. A citation is when we create and list your business information on local directories such as Yelp. There are over 250 directories that we list your business information to. Along with other ranking factors like a awesome website and good reviews, citations help boost your local search listings.
As your Google Business Profile Manager, we run a citations report for your business from the top 50 directories. With this information we can determine all the other directories that your business information needs to be listed on. When listing business information to these directories, some will list the information instantly while others could take days or month. Citations aren’t the end all be all to getting ranked, but it is fundamental in local SEO.
